Here are the nominees for Best Adapted Screenplay. Who should win and why?

paul thomas anderson has said that he wants to do a feature-length movie with no dialogue, and that the opening 15 minutes of "there will be blood" is like a preview of that strategy. even though i'm sure it would be a great movie (because he would make it), i would be disappointed because he writes some of the best dialogue out there. every line in "there will be blood" crackles with maniacal glee or even weird was-that-supposed-to-be-funny witticisms ("i'm your brother... from another mother" "i drink your milkshake!"). it's brilliant.

apparently i can't praise that movie enough.

that being said, "no country" will probably win because it's just winning everything.
