Leonardo DiCaprio did such an amazing job in Blood Diamond, he most definetly deserves the award. It is such an in your face, to the point movie, and he has to portray such an intense character. It is such a difficult role to take on because the situation with the diamonds is so intense and complicated, and he does a terrific job of doing it. He has developed into one of the better actors in our generation and should be rewarded accordingly.

Based on so much of what I've heard, I think Forest Whitaker is going to get the Oscar. Granted I think this has also been a good year for DiCaprio (Blood Diamond and The Departed), I he's against a huge competition.

I'm really rooting for Will Smith. I watched The Pursuit of Happyness with a friend and by the end of the movie, I was absolutely bawling. It's one of those movies that you want to purchase on DVD so that you can watch it whenever you lose your inspiration or focus. If Will Smith's son Jaden could be nominated, I'd vote for him even more!

Although all the hype points to Forest Whitaker winning the award, you have to realize that he has won everything up to this point, and the academy does not like to let someone walk away with all the goodies for a year. I think that the academy will actually honor Peter O'Toole, he is very old, and has an amazing film career for which he has only received a Liftime Achievment Honorary Oscar. So the academy will jump on the chance to give him what he has always deserved.
